Hearing loss creeps up slowly
Clearer conversations shouldn't take a clinic and a second mortgage
Most people wait years before doing anything about their hearing, mostly because of the cost and the appointments. Since 2022, adults with mild to moderate hearing loss can buy over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids directly under FDA rules. HEARVELA One is our version: put them in, set the volume, and get back into the conversation.

How it works
Made to bring voices forward
A microphone picks up the sound around you, a digital chip processes it to make speech clearer, and a tiny speaker sends it gently into your ear canal. It all happens in a fraction of a second, so conversations feel natural.
Why does HEARVELA One cost so much less?
Sold direct
No middlemen, no store markup
We sell only on our own site. There's no retailer or distributor adding their cut.
Fit it yourself
No fitting appointments built into the price
Clinic hearing aids bundle in exams and follow-up visits. OTC hearing aids are made to be set up at home.
No clinics to pay for
No offices, no sales commissions
We don't run clinics or pay commissions, so the price can stay at $99 a pair.

Discreet
Sits inside your ear, so hardly anyone will notice
HEARVELA One is a completely-in-canal (CIC) design: it tucks inside the ear canal with very little showing. The box includes several ear-tip sizes so you can find one that's snug and comfortable.

Busy rooms
Built for restaurants, family dinners and noisy rooms
Digital processing is designed to turn down steady background noise, so voices stand out more at the dinner table, in a restaurant or at a get-together.

Over the counter
No prescription. No hearing test required to buy.
OTC hearing aids are for adults 18 and over with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. If anything on our safety checklist applies to you, like ear pain or sudden hearing loss, see a doctor first.
You're in control
Set the volume yourself, any time
A button on the hearing aid turns the volume up or down. Start low in a quiet room and raise it until voices are clear and comfortable.
Rechargeable
Up to 18 hours of hearing on a single charge
That's a full day, from breakfast to the evening news. No tiny batteries to change: HEARVELA One charges in its pocket-size case, so put them in the case at night and they're ready in the morning.

Questions
Do I need a hearing test?
Not to buy an OTC hearing aid. A professional hearing test can still help you understand your hearing, and you should see a doctor first if anything on the safety checklist applies.
Do I need a prescription?
No. OTC hearing aids can be bought by adults 18+ with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss without a prescription.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Give it a few weeks; most people need time to adjust. If it still isn't right, return it within 60 days of delivery. Returns policy.
Will people see it?
They sit inside the ear canal (CIC style), so very little shows from the outside.
How long does shipping take?
Free tracked shipping. Usually delivered in 8–14 business days.
Will it fall out?
Choosing the right ear-tip size is what keeps it secure. Try each size in the box. If none fits well, contact us before you return it.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, 12 months against defects in materials and workmanship.
What's in the box?
One pair of hearing aids (left and right), the charging case, ear tips in several sizes, a charging cable, a cleaning brush and the user guide.
Does insurance cover it? HSA or FSA?
Hearing aids are an eligible medical expense for HSA and FSA accounts (IRS Publication 502). Pay with your HSA/FSA card, or submit your receipt to your plan for reimbursement. Most health insurance plans don't cover OTC hearing aids; check with your plan administrator.
Is it a tinnitus treatment?
No. It isn't intended to treat tinnitus, and it isn't for severe or profound hearing loss.
How do I contact you?
Email support@hearvela.com, Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm Pacific.
Who OTC hearing aids are (and aren't) for
OTC hearing aids are intended for adults 18 and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. They are not intended for severe or profound hearing loss, and they are not for children.
See a doctor, preferably an ear specialist, before using a hearing aid if you have:
- A visible deformity of the ear, from birth or injury
- Fluid, pus or blood coming out of the ear in the past 6 months
- Pain or discomfort in the ear
- A history of excessive earwax, or you suspect something is in your ear canal
- Episodes of vertigo or severe dizziness
- Sudden, quickly worsening or fluctuating hearing loss in the past 6 months
- Hearing loss or ringing (tinnitus) in only one ear, or a noticeable difference between ears
Sudden hearing loss can be a medical emergency. If you notice it, contact a doctor right away. A hearing aid will not restore normal hearing or prevent hearing loss. Read the full OTC hearing aid information.

- U.S. Food and Drug Administration, final rule establishing OTC hearing aids, 21 CFR 800.30 (effective October 17, 2022).
- President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Aging America & Hearing Loss (2015): average about $2,400 per hearing aid. Prices vary by provider.
- HearingTracker, "How much do hearing aids cost?" (2025 survey of U.S. buyers): average $4,727 per pair at a traditional clinic paid without insurance, and $502 per pair for over-the-counter hearing aids.
